Senior Illustrator and Concept Artist

Position Summary: We are looking for a talented 2D illustrator and concept artist who is excited to bring to life new environments and characters for our players. If you have a passion for game development and storytelling, we would love to hear from you! Edgeworks values creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to quality, and we are searching for like-minded artists to add to our team. Together we will learn, grow, and ultimately enjoy success as a team, overcoming new challenges together.

Our ideal artist straddles the line between traditional "concept" work and finished "illustration" work, which are the higher quality and polished pieces of artwork that make it into the final game and are seen by our players. If you enjoy both taking assets to shippable quality as well as forging fun new ideas, this job is for you!

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Produce a broad spectrum of art assets needed by a video game studio. Everything from concept sketches to icons/thumbnails to fully-polished customer-facing illustrations.
- Create inspirational artwork to define artistic vision and support game design.
- Help define the artistic style and visual language of each property, and of the studio as a whole.
- Collaborate with producers, developers, and marketing teams to produce high-quality assets for use in-game and in marketing.
- Create high quality concept art of characters, scenes, and environments that communicates style, mood, and tone, and conforms to the brand of the product.
- Communicate character and story through illustration, including recognizable characters and locations, emotive expressions and poses, and both informational and emotional context.
- Imbue concepts and illustrations with nuance and detail in keeping with the Edgeworks brand: historically accurate costumes, scientifically plausible spaceships, etc. (Note: you are not required to have a degree in ancient history or astrophysics, merely an interest in authenticity.)
- Draw storyboards to illustrate the movement of in-game FX animations.
- Integrate feedback to refine and polish assets before completion.
- Communicate reasonable and efficient timelines for asset completion, to aid in production scheduling.
- Maintain a willingness to give and receive feedback, collaborate with others to share techniques, ideas, and contribute to a positive working environment.
- Champion Edgeworks’s core values (see more:

- A passion for the challenges of creating great art in a fast-paced environment.
